Queena Wong, founder of Curious Vines, the supportive community that connects women in wine, has commented on the article that appeared in The Times T2 on, March 14th 2024.  With a headline: Is the wine industry about to have its own MeToo moment? journalist Kate Spicer shared experiences of women who work in the wine trade. Queena Wong had conducted a recent survey of women who work in the wine trade, where one in three described experiencing harassment.

You will have met an inspirational panel of women who are leveraging their food businesses to promote intercultural dialogue & also discovered the challenges they faced as South Asian women in the food industry and how they overcame them.

We have teamed up with our friends at Cookery School at Little Portland Street to bring you discounted tickets to their brand new series of monthly events. Their next event takes place on Monday May 20th 2024 from 6pm-8.30pm and we will be discussing the British cheese industry and what it might look like in the future.

The new Alcohol Tax came into force on 1st August 2023. We spoke to women in the drinks industry about the tax and what it means for their businesses, consumers and the industry as a whole.

Elise Lane is the head winemaker and CEO of The Winery by Laneberg Wine. It’s the first winery  on Tyneside and the furthest north in England. She moved to the wine world from corporate finance and set up Laneberg Wine whilst pregnant with their second son. Her winery is one of the suppliers to the Local Heroes North East a Virtual Market set up to help safeguard regional food and drink businesses in the North East of England. We spoke to her about the Covid-19 crisis, her plans for survival and hopes for the future.

To continue our series, our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, interviewed Roberta Hall-McCarron, Head Chef of The Little Chartroom in Edinburgh who is representing Scotland.

As the December elections are currently front of mind, we’re holding an event at City Hall on the evening of 16th December on the politics of food. Our panel of women will cover subjects such as food poverty, slave-free food, food waste, gender politics in professional kitchens, sustainability and more.
