Women of the Year Luncheon Awards (WOTY) is delighted to invite you to attend its first regional networking event kindly hosted by LSH Auto UK Limited at its prestigious car showroom in Stockport on 11 April 2024 at 12pm. Women in the Food Industry co-founder, will be speaking on the panel.
About The Women of The Year Awards
The Women the Year Luncheon and Awards highlight and celebrate the achievements of exceptional women across the UK. Now in its 42nd year, the awards continue to promote positive female role models who provide inspiration across all areas of society and the business community. The awards encourage women to showcase their talents and celebrate their achievements to a nationwide audience and help to raise funds for their nominated charity – Prince’s Trust.
Now for 2024, they are doing something a little different.
Our co-founder Mex Ibrahim is speaking at The Women In … Networking with Impact panel on the 11th of April, at LSH Auto, Stockport for the 1st annual Women In.. event, with a focus on retail, hospitality, manufacturing and logistics.
This event is open for “Women in” – Retail, hospitality, manufacturing and logistics and the Board of Directors of the Women of the Year awards would be delighted if you would attend.
The aim is to encourage networking amongst women in various sectors that work closely with one another to establish new connections, gain more business and hear from leading business women.

Who’s on the panel:
The panel will be chaired by Dr. Sally Penni MBE – Founder & Chair of Women in The Law
Sally is a high profile award winning barrister. Outside of this role she is also a public speaker, patron & board member, diversity leader, radio broadcaster (Talking Law – Women in The Law podcast), author of 16 books and most importantly a proud mother of three. Sally also sits as Non-Executive Director on a variety of boards bringing her experience and expertise in a variety of areas including governance, employment law & cyber security.
Nicola Gleave – Founder of Worn by Us
Worn By Us, is a fashion resale business working with brands, retailers and consumers. The aim is to keep fashion is use for longer by:
Nicola created Worn By Us following a breast cancer diagnosis and a desire to raise money and awareness for charity. Nicola began asking celebrities to donate fashion items they had worn to raise money for charity. Interest grew, and she started receiving donations of clothing from others who had heard her story.
Sue Bancroft – HR Director & WOTY Ambassador
Experienced HR leader with over 23 years experience in the logistics industry. Sue was a finalist in the Women of The Year Awards in 2023 and is now proud to be one of their ambassadors.
Mex Ibrahim Co-founder, Women in the Food Industry
After almost 8 years as Head of Social Media & Marketing of the UK’s fastest growing food website, Great British Chefs, Mex has delivered a variety of award-winning digital marketing campaigns & now runs her own freelance social media, content creation & digital strategy business. Passionate about women’s equality & female empowerment, she co-founded Women in the Food Industry in April 2019 which became a Community Interest Company in July 2023.
Mex is also a Trustee of School Food Matters, a member of the Guild of Food Writers, sits on the Editorial Advisory Board for New Food Magazine and is an Associate of the Royal Society of Public Health. Her expertise includes sustainability, food entrepreneurs, equality within the food industry and ethical eating.
