Plan Zheroes are a surplus food charity connecting businesses with surplus food to nearby charities who can use it. This Autumn, Plan Zheroes will be making a new cookbook and they are inviting all who care about food-surplus to join them in this celebration. We spoke to one of their Ambassadors, Kirsten Frederickson, about the project.

Women in the Food Industry and The Chefs Forum teamed up with one of West London’s largest catering colleges – West London College – Hammersmith & Fulham Campus, for an evening of canapés, Christmas drinks and insightful fireside chats. Guests enjoyed delicious canapés prepared by catering students working with our chef community, plus wine & delicious non alcoholic drinks. There was also sampling of food, drink gifts and party food ideas from a range of award-winning female founders.

We have teamed up with our friends at Cookery School at Little Portland Street to bring you discounted tickets to their brand new series of monthly events. In All I want For Christmas is Artisan Cheese you can enjoy discounted tickets for an expert panel of artisan cheese makers and retailers discussing making, maturing and selling cheese at Christmas.  There will of course be a great selection of artisan cheese to taste along with canapes and organic wine.

Our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, is delighted to be chairing a session at the Trends & Innovation Platform on 27th March called Why Women-Led What’s the Future for Vegan & Plant Based Diets – Has the Bubble Burst? Our co-founder Mex Ibrahim is speaking at The Better Hospitality Conference on 19th March (the second day of the two day conference) at 11:30am-12:30pm on the following panel “Do we need to do more to address media portrayals of gender roles in hospitality?”

We are delighted that Great British Menu (GBM) is returning to our screens on 23 January 2024 for series 19. The BBC Two show puts the nation’s most talented chefs to the test. It will air weekly, Tuesdays to Thursdays, 8pm on BBC Two for eight weeks.  Finals week will start on 18th March, with the banquet on 22nd March.  The theme for 2024 will be the Olympics and Paralympics with a good luck banquet for the athletes competing in Paris.

Our awesome Women in the Food Industry panel event was ably chaired by food writer Jenny Linford, who led a lively and inspiring discussion on sustainability, equality in hospitality, heritage and authenticity at The Conduit on 12th December 2023. Discover what happened.

On November 18th 2023 our co-founder, Mex Ibrahim attended an event by City Harvest which showed how surplus food was given another life. Together with their friends at London’s Community Kitchen they co-hosted a Covent Garden Supper Club at The Conduit.  The supper acted as a great introduction to see how London’s first surplus food distribution charity are making positive changes in their efforts to reduce London’s food waste.
