Kamala Harris’s Cookbooks – What her cookbooks say about her – Esquire & Diana Henry
You can tell a lot about a person by the cookbooks they own. Our co-founder Mex Ibrahim discovered through Bee Wilson, that Esquire magazine had published in-depth look at Vice President Kamala Harris’s cookbooks. Bee noted that British food writer Diana Henry’s book From The Oven to the Table was not only included amongst the pile of cookbooks, but that Diana Henry had also given her thoughts on the books. Mex took a look at the women food writers who feature in Kamala’s kitchen.

Women in the Food Industry hosted an event centred around the launch of Sally Abé’s debut memoir – A Woman’s Place is in the Kitchen – a chef’s dispactches from behind the pass. Sally’s book is about her journey of becoming an award-winning chef in the brutal world of restaurant kitchens. It is also a stirring manifesto which shows how we can change them for the better. On 11th June we met an inspiring panel of women working to bring hope for the culinary landscape’s future.

Modern South Asian Kitchen: Recipes and Stories Celebrating Culture and Community by Sabrina Gidda – Debut Cookbook
Our friend and long time supporter, Sabrina Gidda’s debut coookbook Modern South Asian Kitchen was published by Quadrille Books in March 2023.
In the book, we see the merging of Sabrina’s professional career in modern European kitchens unite with her Punjabi heritage, culminating in 90 unique and stunning recipes that are comforting, playful and big on flavour.
