The Magic of Microbes – Dr Johnny Drain & Su Scott
The Conduit – 15 July 6-7.30pm
Picture a world without bread, beer, cheese, or chocolate. A place with no coffee to kick-start your morning, no wine to unwind at night. And forget about your favourite tangy pickles or rich umami-packed soy sauce. Sounds tragic, right? That’s what life would be without the magic of fermentation.
But fermentation is more than just a culinary trick – it’s a practice that connects cultures, sustains communities, and could even help us build a more resilient food system.
Food scientist and fermentation expert Dr. Johnny Drain was in conversation with food writer Su Scott for a wildly entertaining deep dive into the world of microbes.
This event is normally for members of The Conduit only BUT Women in the Food Industry subscribers could register for free! If you’d like to see a video of some of Johnny and Su’s insights from the night check out our Instagram.
