Recap – Bringing Women To The Table – Women in Food & Politics Panel Event

On Monday 10th March 2025, from 6pm there was a FREE International Women’s Day collaboration between Women in The Food Industry and Centenary Action.

Inspired by the suffragettes and suffragists, Centenary Action was established by Professor Helen Pankhurst CBE (pictured below), granddaughter of Sylvia and great-granddaughter of Emmeline,  in 2018 to mark the centenary of some women getting the right to vote and to take action over the following 10 years to deliver a gender equal parliament by 2028.

Thanks to Tomorrow Group for kindly hosting our event at their offices in Hatton Garden.
Panellists were from the main political parties and women in the food & beverage industry and included:

Caroline Voaden – Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for South Devon (formerly Totnes constituency) & Vice Chair of the APPG for Hospitality & Tourism

Amanda Hack – Labour MP for North West Leicestershire & Vice Chair of the APPG for Food and Drink

Nicola Bates – CEO for WineGB, the trade association representing the vineyards and wine makers of Great Britain

Julianne Caillouette Noble –  Managing Director of The Sustainable Restaurant Association. With a background in nutrition and a love of good food, Juliane’s career has been deeply engaged in global food policy issues ranging from sustainable farming and urban growing to food education. She has designed food education tools and resources for teachers, developed local and global campaigns, and served as a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for School Food in the UK.

Kate Howell – Food strategy and communications advisor & NED. For 12 years, she was Director of Communications and Engagement at Borough Market, where her work was driven by a strong belief in the central part that food can play in creating communities and driving the sustainability agenda.

She sits on The Mayor of London’s Markets’ Board and is 3rd Vice President of Les Dames Escoffier International, a philanthropic organisation supporting women in hospitality.

Nicola Hart – Founder of Agua de Madre

Antonia Jamison –  Currently holding a number of non-exec roles with some of the UKs most exciting start-up FMCG brands,  Antonia specialises in mentoring founders, assisting with fundraising, and creating valuable brand equity.

Attendees enjoyed Great British wine from WineGB, non alcoholic drinks from female founded  Noughty & Agua de Madre and a grazing table.
