The Conduit Food Industry Community Drinks – Monday 5th August 2024
Join our supporters The Conduit – a members club for social impact – for Food Industry networking drinks on Monday 5th August! Meet the burgeoning community committed to creating a sustainable, just and prosperous future for food.
Our co-founder Mex Ibrahim is a member at impact community The Conduit & through a LinkedIn Group is helping to bring together all those committed to a more sustainable future for the food industry. Conduit members are entrepreneurs, investors, creatives, business leaders, activists, civil-society leaders and policymakers, bringing together knowledge, networks and capital for sustained positive impact. They have clubs in London and Oslo.
The networking drinks on 5th August are a great way to find out more about how The Conduit team are working to find the most sustainable ingredients and food suppliers for the club itself and its new restaurant Rucola. Thanks to all who came along to our first three networking drinks which we held in May, June and July.
The events are a great chance to exchange ideas with like minded food people & discuss key issues facing the food industry when it comes to sustainable food.
As it’s “summer” we’ll be meeting on the Rooftop Terrace on the 5th floor. You can meet Beth Chamberlain from The Conduit’s membership team to chat about how they are working to source new sustainable suppliers & organising various related food events eg their Saturday brunch workshops.
In the Spring Mex attended Sarah Fulton Vachon‘s olive oil tasting at The Conduit. Her female led olive oil company Citizens of Soil is a relatively new supplier to The Conduit but she’s already making an impact through the fascinating insights we learnt at the workshop & tasting.
Food suppliers at The Conduit include Neal’s Yard Dairy, South Coast Fisheries, Lake District Farmers in Cumbria, Natoora and you’ll also hear about another supplier Angry Monk who supply surplus “imperfect” fruit & veg to The Conduit. Instead of the vegetables going into a landfill to be wasted, by working with Angry Monk those ingredients are salvaged effectively. They are sourcing non-seasonal, non-local ingredients, (eg mangoes), but in a sustainable way.
The Conduit often host great free events that are relevant to sustainable food. Mex & a number of other members of the Conduit’s Food Industry Group attended one on 10th July pictured above. For his event The Conduit had teamed up with The UN Global Compact Network with a number of panels & a fireside chat with industry leaders exploring emerging issues facing the food industry. The topics included regenerative agriculture, food waste reduction, human rights and the food sector’s role in promoting healthy living. There was also good discussion on how corporates & the financial sector could help meet the Sustainable Development Goals around food.
The event on 5th August is free, drinks are available to buy from the bar at a special 20% discount.
If you haven’t already don’t forget to join the Conduit Food Industry LinkedIn Group to find out about more interesting food events taking place at The Conduit and beyond.
