This event has now passed.

Join our supporters The Conduit – a members club for social impact – for Food Industry networking drinks on Friday 6th September! Meet the burgeoning community committed to creating a sustainable, just and prosperous future for food.

Conduit Food Industry Community Drinks

Our co-founder Mex Ibrahim is a member at impact community The Conduit & through a LinkedIn Group – The Food Systems Community is helping to bring together all those committed to a more sustainable future for the food industry.  Conduit members are entrepreneurs, investors, creatives, business leaders, activists, civil-society leaders and policymakers, bringing together knowledge, networks and capital for sustained positive impact. They have clubs in London and Oslo.

The networking drinks on 6th September are a great way to find out more about how The Conduit team are working to find the most sustainable ingredients and food suppliers for the club itself and its new restaurant Rucola.  Thanks to all who came along to our first four networking drinks which we held in May, June, July and August.

The events are a great chance to exchange ideas with like minded food people & discuss key issues facing the food industry when it comes to sustainable food.

We will be meeting in the “Snug” in the corner area of the Ubuntu Lounge on the 3rd Floor (see above). You will also meet Beth Chamberlain from The Conduit’s membership team to chat about how they are working to source new sustainable suppliers & organising various related food events eg their Sustainable Food Events during London Climate Action Week.

Food Systems Community

Food suppliers at The Conduit include Neal’s Yard Dairy, Citizens of Soil, South Coast Fisheries, Lake District Farmers in Cumbria, Natoora and  supplier Angry Monk who supply surplus “imperfect” fruit & veg to The Conduit. Instead of the vegetables going into a landfill to be wasted, by working with Angry Monk those ingredients are salvaged effectively. They are sourcing non-seasonal, non-local ingredients, (eg mangoes), but in a sustainable way.

What Next in Sustainable Food

The Conduit often host great free events that are relevant to sustainable food. Mex & a number of other members of the Conduit’s Food Systems Community Group attended one on 10th July pictured above.  For this event The Conduit had teamed up with The UN Global Compact Network with a number of panels & a fireside chat with industry leaders exploring emerging issues facing the food industry. The topics included regenerative agriculture, food waste reduction, human rights and the food sector’s role in promoting healthy living. There was also good discussion on how corporates & the financial sector could help meet the Sustainable Development Goals around food.

The event on 6th September is free, drinks are available to buy from the bar at a special 20% discount.

If you haven’t already don’t forget to join the Conduit Food Systems Community LinkedIn Group to find out about more interesting food events taking place at The Conduit and beyond.
