Women in hospitality took a significant step forward at the HRC Show in London, as a new Ten-Point Pledge was unveiled to improve workplace culture, career progression and gender equality in professional kitchens. The Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards shortlist is one of the most eagerly awaited dates in the food writing & broadcasting calendar.  For 14 years, the awards have championed those who help others to enjoy, explore, experiment, and discover more about food and drink, through their writing, photography, and commentary.  It’s an area that women do very well in and this year is no exception discover those who made it to the shortlist.

Our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, interviewed Dana Choi – Head Chef of Jang at The Royal Exchange, a contemporary Korean and Japanese restaurant in London known for combining heritage flavours with modern techniques and the best of British produce.

The shortlist for the Claire Aho Award for Women Photographers 2026 was announced on 2nd April 2026. Part of the global World Food Photography Awards, this award aims to encourage and celebrate women photographers.  For the second year Women In The Food Industry were delighted to be on the judging advisory panel. We are particular fans of the Claire Aho Award and are delighted to share the photos by UK photographers shortlisted in this category.

Women in The Food Industry and Anjula Devi, Author of best-selling cookbook 15 Minute Indian and Consultant Chef for Manchester Utd teamed up with chef Aida Khan to provide a spice masterclass for  one of West London’s largest catering colleges – West London College – Hammersmith & Fulham Campus. Chef Lecturer of West London College, Kyla Bertrand was on hand to ensure her students got the most from the day.

The 2026 UK Food & Drink Shows, supported by Women in the Food Industry, will be shining a spotlight on the work of female industry leaders as businesses from across the trade come together for three days of innovation, inspiration and networking. There will be special Women in the Food Industry panel on 15th April on Resilience & Reinvention: Thriving in a Changing Food Industry.

Women in the Food Industry are trade supporters of IFE – the ultimate business event for food & drink product discovery, bringing together three inspiring days of innovation, shaking up the sector.  The IFE seminar programme includes two panels led by Women in The Food Industry: Mood Busting Nutrition on 30 March & Plant-based Food Transformation on 31 March.
