Interview with Olivia Burt Finalist Roux Scholarship 2019
Our co-founder Mecca Ibrahim, interviews Olivia Burt Sous Chef of Claridge’s who has reached the regional finals of the Roux Scholarship. She is the first woman to do this since Sabrina Gidda made it to the finals 4 years ago.

On International Women’s Day, 8th March 2019, Mecca Ibrahim FRSA, co-founder of Women in The Food Industry, gave a talk at the Royal Society of Arts – RSA, exploring issues common to women working in the field of food, from professional restaurants, hospitality, food, drink, farming, food journalism and blogging, right through to food photography. Just in time for International Women’s Day the Lancaster Guardian reported on Better with Jam’s news and the partnership of our co-founders Janie Ash and Mecca Ibrahim . “A series of new events will bring together female food and drink leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the issues impacting women working in food related careers in the United Kingdom” wrote Nick Lakin.
