At Women in the Food Industry we are interviewing the strong female line-up of chefs from across Britain competing to serve their dish at the final banquet of Great British Menu. To kick start the series, our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, interviewed Amber Francis, Head Chef at The Zebra Riding Club, in the grounds of Hertfordshire’s Birch Community.

We are delighted that Great British Menu (GBM) is returning to our screens on 24th March 2021 for series 16. The BBC Two show puts the nation’s most talented chefs to the test. At Women in the Food Industry we were pleased to see women making up almost a third of the chefs from across Britain who will be competing to serve their dish at the final banquet. 

We recently caught up with inspiring young chef Amber Francis, Senior Sous Chef at Bermondsey Larder (previously known as The Dairy Bermondsey), to discover more about the resilience of working in the restaurant world during lockdown. Plus as Youth Ambassador for The Craft Guild of Chefs, discover her thoughts on importance of training, development, women in the industry and her clear love for the hospitality world.

We had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with Head Chef, Ruth Hansom, of Pomona’s on Hereford Road in Notting Hill who  joined the line up of chefs who competed in the Bocuse d’Or National Selection on 30th September at The Restaurant Show. The Bocuse d’Or,  is the world’s largest and most prestigious cooking contest and Ruth was the only female chef to make the finals to represent the UK. Our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, spoke to Ruth about the competition behind the scenes at London’s busy Olympia Exhibition Centre in our podcast and interview.

Frances Atkins – Michelin starred chef since 2003 and panellist at Women in the Food Industry (WiFi) event International Women’s Day – Pioneering Women In the Food Industry will be on Saturday Kitchen – 6th April 2019.

Women In the Food Industry supporter Victoria Stewart, freelance food journalist, will chair a discussion exploring new solutions for employers, catering colleges and the Mayor of London to raise the profile of creative chef careers, improve working standards and reform culinary education at an event at Claridge’s today – 3rd April 2019.

Our co-founder Mecca Ibrahim, interviews Olivia Burt Sous Chef of Claridge’s who has reached the regional finals of the Roux Scholarship. She is the first woman to do this since Sabrina Gidda made it to the finals 4 years ago.

Frances Atkins is one of very few female Michelin Starred Chefs in the UK. She has had her Michelin Star…
