This year’s Estrella Damm List of Top 100 Restaurants shows a number of inspiring women running award-winning restaurants including the restaurant which took the top slot Ynyshir run by Amelia Eiríksson and her head chef partner, Gareth Ward.

Food lovers, there’s a new TV show coming your way which looks a treat.  Extraordinary Places to Eat, coming soon to BBC2, features Fred Sirieix as he travels around Europe with some of Britain’s top chefs including Angela Hartnett and Nisha Katona, visiting some of their favourite places to eat.

Aida Khan’s new Pakistani restaurant Shola had only been open for two weeks when our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, visited for lunch but it was buzzing with a warm and lively atmosphere as it brought some much needed spice to the Media Works area of White City in Shepherd’s Bush. 

We had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with Head Chef, Ruth Hansom, of Pomona’s on Hereford Road in Notting Hill who  joined the line up of chefs who competed in the Bocuse d’Or National Selection on 30th September at The Restaurant Show. The Bocuse d’Or,  is the world’s largest and most prestigious cooking contest and Ruth was the only female chef to make the finals to represent the UK. Our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, spoke to Ruth about the competition behind the scenes at London’s busy Olympia Exhibition Centre in our podcast and interview.

Since launching as a small, family-run business in 2011 Little Moons has grown to the point when one mochi is eaten every three seconds.  Our co-founder Mecca Ibrahim caught up with Vivien Wong one half of the dynamic brother sister duo behind the company. Discover how these bite-size artisan gelato, handmade in the UK moved from a home business, to stocking restaurants and are now sold in retailers including Selfridge’s, Whole Foods, Tesco and Ocado.

Women In The Food Industry co-founder Mex Ibrahim spoke to Dipna  about her inspiration for the recipes and the culinary adventures you will find in the book.  Dip In Brilliant showcases not only delicious Punjabi delights, but also some of Dipna’s quirky recipe creations and some of her mum’s magical recipes too.

The Young National Chef of the Year (YNCOTY) awards were announced on Tuesday 8th October at a lively ceremony at London’s Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square. Taking the runner-up spot was Rosie Welch from L’Enclume with Keira Carolan from Simon Rogan’s Henrock taking the third place spot. The  VIP Awards evening took place in front of some of the industry’s biggest names.
