Spotlight on Women Head Chefs and Restaurateurs in National Restaurant Awards 2022
Hundreds of votes from chefs, food writers, editors, top industry suppliers and critics were counted to reveal the country’s best restaurants. This year’s Estrella Damm List of Top 100 Restaurants shows a number of inspiring women running award-winning restaurants including the restaurant which took the top slot Ynyshir run by Amelia Eiríksson and her head chef partner, Gareth Ward.

Aida Khan’s new Pakistani restaurant Shola had only been open for two weeks when our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, visited for lunch but it was buzzing with a warm and lively atmosphere as it brought some much needed spice to the Media Works area of White City in Shepherd’s Bush.

Ruth Hansom on competing in Bocuse d’Or National Selection – Podcast & Interview
We had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with Head Chef, Ruth Hansom, of Pomona’s on Hereford Road in Notting Hill who joined the line up of chefs who competed in the Bocuse d’Or National Selection on 30th September at The Restaurant Show. The Bocuse d’Or, is the world’s largest and most prestigious cooking contest and Ruth was the only female chef to make the finals to represent the UK. YNCOTY Award Winners – Young National Chef of the Year 2024 – 2nd & 3rd Place Taken by Two Women
The Young National Chef of the Year (YNCOTY) awards were announced on Tuesday 8th October at a lively ceremony at London’s Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square. Taking the runner-up spot was Rosie Welch from L’Enclume with Keira Carolan from Simon Rogan’s Henrock taking the third place spot. The VIP Awards evening took place in front of some of the industry’s biggest names.
