Speciality & Fine Food Fair, is the UK’s leading showcase of artisanal food and drink. Now in its 25th year is returning from the 10th – 11th of September at Olympia, London. It’s a free industry event, designed as a food festival. Our co-founder, Mex Ibrahim, is delighted to be chairing a session in the Trends Theatre on 10th September called Diversity: More Than Just Ticking Boxes. Hot on the heels of CODE’s Hospitality’s Over-50s Power List and the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Business Insider have just published their Top 1oo of the Coolest People in Food and Drink. Naturally we were delighted to see a number of women based in the UK in that list. Our co-founder Mecca Ibrahim highlights why she thinks they’re cool.

Posing in front of the giant letters, selfies with celebrity chefs, checking out chef demos, trying samples of  food from London’s leading restaurants, drinking gin, tasting tea, chomping cheese and eating olives in the rain, that can only be Taste of London.  Love it or hate it, our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, visited what is still London’s biggest food and drink festival and shares her thoughts & highlights of the four day festival which runs from June 19 – June 23 in Regent’s Park.

We spoke to BAFTA winning TV Series Producer and Development Exec Antonia Lloyd who is always on the hunt for new TV talents that could launch the next big food format. Antonia has produced BBC One’s MasterChef, Britain’s Best Home Cook, and Channel 4’s new series Beat the Chef – hosted by Andi Oliver and due out later this year. Here she helps to unpack the process of getting on TV.

To close our celebrations of championing women in the food industry, on International Women’s Day we will be talking to some women who are trailblazers and pioneers in their field.

We will uncover their amazing journeys and some of the issues they feel are facing women in the food industry today and whether this has changed over time.

You are invited for an afternoon of inspiring stories from a line up of empowering women in the food and drink industry. We will discuss the panellists’ amazing stories and how they were able to turn their lives around with opportunities that came their way.

We’ll also explore any particular issues our panel feel face them as women in the food industry and how they might expect or hope for those issues to change going forward.

The Young National Chef of the Year (YNCOTY) awards were announced on Tuesday 8th October at a lively ceremony at London’s Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square. Taking the runner-up spot was Rosie Welch from L’Enclume with Keira Carolan from Simon Rogan’s Henrock taking the third place spot. The  VIP Awards evening took place in front of some of the industry’s biggest names.
